Children In Worship
Isle of Hope United Methodist Church welcomes children into our church family as wonderous gifts of God. Children are included in age appropriate aspects of worship and are educated in their role as part of the whole church of Jesus Christ.
- Children At The Lord’s Table
As we all learn by doing, children are invited and encouraged to participate in communion. The communion table in the Methodist Church is God’s table and open and offered to all. With this opportunity comes the responsibility as parents to help our children realize the worshipful experience the Lord’s Supper offers.
- Children’s Church
Nursery care is provided for ages 2 years and younger for all worship hours. Children 3 years (by September 1) and older are invided to participate in the Worship Service until the “Children’s Sermon.” At this time, 3 years thru 1st grade are dismissed to attend Children’s Church staffed by volunteers. All parents with children in these age groups will be called on to take a turn volunteering your time during the 8:45 or 11:15 AM Worship Services.
- Worship Preperation Class
Each spring our 1st graders are invited to attend a Worship Preparation Class which enables them to more fully participate in the worship life of the Isle of Hope UMC. This class is taught by members who provide instruction about church architecture, furnishings, and the order of worship. Children learn The Lord’s Prayer, The Apostles’ Creed and the Gloria Patri. Upon completion of the class, members are recognized during a morning Worship Service at which time they are recognized as graduates of Children’s Church and ready for “big church.” From then on, 2nd graders are expected to remain each week with their parents for the entire hour of worship.
- Child Care
Loving care is provided for infants and toddlers so that parents can attend Sunday School, Worship Services, Bible Studies and other special events of the church.
