Home Repair Ministries

The Sawdust Gang

“The Sawdust Gang” is a group of men from the United Methodist Men’s group that seek to help those connected to Isle of Hope with minor home repair needs that they are unable to do themselves or do not have the funds to hire a professional. The group typically meets once a month after the leadership determines appropriate prjoects for the group.

They also sponsor services days for local mission agencies and events. Most recently, Wesley Community Center has received a lot of our attention, as this vital ministry to our community is in need of repair to its physical campus.

Early Response Team (ERT)

To assist those in our community and around the southeast, Isle of Hope has formed and Early Response Team that will travel to areas hit by natural disasters. The team participates in mucking out homes, tarping rooves, and minor repairs. The team is open to any adult willing to travel when needed.

ERT Training is required to participate. Trainings are available at various times and locations, sponsored by the South Georgia United Methodist Annual Conference. Click here for a list of available trainings and other ways the Conference engages in Disaster Response. All team members must have a Safe Sanctuaries training and Background check on record with the church office to participate.
