We welcome you to worship with us here at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church. Our hope and prayer is that this will be a home for you within our large, dynamic church. We feel that worship is not an event but an attitude, a mindset and a lifestyle.

Isle of Hope United Methodist Church offers two Traditional worship services each Sunday at 8:45 and 11:15 AM in the Sanctuary. We draw from the rich symbols and music of the Christian seasons, yet our services are easy for the worshipper to follow along. Our Chancel Choir is very important to our worship services by providing a variety of musical styles that help communicate the message with passion and bring us into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.

Here are some frequently asked questions about our worship services and about Christianity. We hope that these will help you to better understand our Worship Services.

How can I participate in the Worship Service?

Our ushers will give you a printed order of worship which lists the page numbers for the hymns and readings from the Bible. Both the Hymnals and Bibles are located in the pew racks. The words for the hymns are sometimes printed in the bulletin as well. We customarily stand when we sing and recite the creeds of our faith. We sit to hear announcements and the sermon as well as during prayer times. You are invited to read the Scripture lesson with us using the pew Bible. Please be sure to register your attendance in the registration pad located in the pew rack. Ushers and others of the congregation are glad to greet you and help you in any way.

Where do my children go during church?

Children of all ages are welcome during our worship services. During the service in the Sanctuary, our Associate Pastor shares a moment with the children in story and prayer. Following the Children’s Sermon, children may leave the Sanctuary for a special time of worship and learning. At the conclusion of the service, children may be picked up from Children’s Church in the Preschool wing. A Nursery is also available for infants through two years and is located in the Preschool wing.

How can I learn about Christianity?

You can begin to learn about Christianity by becoming involved in a Christian church. As you make friends here, you will experience Christianity in action–caring for all God’s people. You will also have opportunities to ask questions. Small groups such as Sunday School, Bible studies and prayer groups are particularly good ways to understand the Christian faith. We also offer Back to Basics, a class specificially designed to answer the basics of the Christian faith, periodically during the year. As you spend time with practicing Christians, you will realize that Christianity is about living in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Your relationship with other Christians will help and support you as you live the Christian life.
