An organ is more than the sum of its keys and voices. It holds the power to inspire, to console, to celebrate, and to give expression to the deepest longings of the human spirit.

Join us for A Gift for Generations, a special evening of music and storytelling celebrating the dedication of the organ at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church.

Following Hurricane Helene and subsequent water damage in 2024, the church's organ was lost. What followed was not simply the replacement of an instrument, but the beginning of a new chapter in the musical life of our congregation.

Organist and Associate Pastor for Music & Worship, the Rev. Jared Wilson, presents a thoughtfully crafted program that unfolds in five movements:

I. Receiving the Gift — The timeless beauty and spiritual depth of Johann Sebastian Bach.

II. Renewing the Gift — The passion, struggle, and ultimate triumph of César Franck's monumental Choral in B Minor.

III. Expanding the Gift — The rich musical heritage of the African American spiritual, featuring music by John W. Work III and a special vocal offering by Damon Banks.

IV. Sharing the Gift — The haunting beauty of Ennio Morricone's Gabriel's Oboe, which will include the church's 1967 William Dowd Harpsichord.

V. Entrusting the Gift — A joyful and exhilarating conclusion with Craig Phillips' Toccata on How Firm a Foundation, preceded by a special liturgy of dedication.

From the intricate counterpoint of Bach to the cinematic lyricism of Morricone, this is an evening that invites listeners to experience the organ not simply as an instrument of grandeur, but as a voice of faith, memory, resilience, and hope.

More than a recital, A Gift for Generations is a celebration of music's power to connect the past, present, and future.

We hope you'll join us for this meaningful evening!
