Confirmation is a season of exploring, deepening, and claiming faith. The word confirmation means “to make firm,” and this experience gives students the opportunity to build on what they have already learned while asking questions, growing in their understanding of the Christian faith, and discovering what it means to follow Jesus in the Wesleyan tradition.
Through classes, conversations with pastors and church leaders, retreats, worship, and mission opportunities, confirmands grow together in faith and community. At the conclusion of the Confirmation journey, students are invited to publicly profess their faith and become full members of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church.
Confirmation is open to students connected with the Isle of Hope congregation who are ready to explore their faith more deeply and consider making this commitment for themselves.
This year, our 8th graders will embark on “In the Making,” a journey exploring what it means to grow in faith, ask honest questions, and make their faith their own.
Confirmation class will meet on Sunday mornings at 10:30 AM in Green House 211, along with several retreats and special events throughout the year designed to help our confirmands grow in their faith and build meaningful relationships with one another, their mentors, and the church.
The journey will culminate in Confirmation Sunday on March 7, 2027, when we’ll celebrate our confirmands as they have the opportunity to make their profession of faith and take this next step in their journey with Christ.

Confirmation 2026-27 Retreats
Saturday, November 14
We will meet at the church at 9:15 AM and return by 3 PM. We will tour several churches, including the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, First African Baptist, and St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church.
Cost: $10 for lunch
December 4 & 5
We're traveling to LaGrange to visit the Biblical History Center! We will step back in time to explore a first century village and eat a meal similar to what Jesus would have shared with His disciples. We'll depart Friday at 9 AM and return Saturday by 6 PM. We will notify your school of the church educational trip.
Cost: $100
February 19-21
Join us for a confirmation retreat at Epworth by the Sea. We will work on the 2027 Confirmation class creed and make individual stoles to wear on Confirmation Sunday. This is important time spent together before taking vows on Confirmation Sunday. We will depart Friday at 3:30 PM and return Sunday at 2 PM.
